Gialina in Glen Park

Gialina is one of those places that evokes feelings of comfort and romance.  Whether you're single or partnered, out for the evening with grandma, or just looking to share a delicious pizza with someone open to trying stinging nettles--Gialina is always remarkable and satisfying.

Gialina serves up artfully constructed thin crust pizza topped with some of the freshest locally sourced ingredients.  Only one of the pizzas on their simple menu featured mozzarella cheese and I'm happy to tell you it was locally produced and fresh. All their pizzas are 12" diameter and a perfect share for two, but don't stop at half if you're romanced by the flavors of bacon and thinly sliced German butterball potatoes with red onions, fresh thyme and sweet Gorgonzola. You must try the Wild Nettles w/ pancetta, mushrooms, and provolone.  Don't worry the nettles don't sting. Gialina also serves some seriously satisfying starters like Wild Arugula w/ persimmon, goat cheese and pistachios or Pork belly with braised swiss chard in a drizzle of saba syrup.

Gialina has a short, but studied wine list of whites and reds that are perfect accompaniment to their sparkling menu.
Gialina is a must for any city dweller with a respect for refined pizza painted with an array of fresh inventive toppings.

Make sure to leave room for the heavenly Chocolate Hazelnut Dessert Pizza (pictured above.) It's the perfect end to a beautiful evening.
Gialina doesn't take reservations, but if you give them a call as you're beginning your journey to Glen Park they'll add your name to the waiting list. There is free parking conveniently located just down Kern Alley and nice window benches on the sidewalk to sit and wait.  If you give them your mobile number you can skip to the bar next door for a quick drink while waiting for your table.
